  • A hospital in California is looking for an experienced Pediatric nurse for a travel contract.
  • The right candidate will have 3 full years of experience, hold an active BLS, PALS and CA License.

      • Schedule Information
      • Shifts/Hours: 12 hours; 7a - 7:30p/7p - 7:30a
      • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
      • Holidays: 2 of the major
      • Call: When Census drops, may be placed on standby
      • Breaks: 1/2 hour break (clock-out); 3 - 15 min breaks per shift
      • Must pass math test with a 95% after offer.
        • Unit Specific Information
        • Unit: Pediatrics (24 hour pediatric hospitalists in house)
        • Ratios: 4 to 1 both days/nights
        • Certs: BLS & PALS
        • EMR System: Cerner
        • Charge RN: Yes, do not take patients
        • Nurse Aides: Yes, based on census on how many
        • Scrub Color: Navy
        • Tele: have monitoring but don't have a tech
        • Vents: None
        • Peds Hospitalist or Intensivist in house: Yes, in house 24/7
        • IV Team: None
        • RT 24/7: Yes
        • Pharmacy 24/7: Yes
        • Unit Orientation: Total of 4 shifts, 2 in Peds, 1 in PICU, 1 in Burn
        • Types of patients: Respiratory distress, appendectomy, dehydration, DKA, seizures, general surgeries only
        • Floating: To PICU for low acuity and burn ICU for appropriate level of care peds.
        • Additional Notes: Ages up to 13, however will take older developmentally challenged patients; use medfusion pumps.

          • CERNER IS REQUIRED
          • NO FIRST TIME TRAVELERS
          • Must be able to start their own IV's, strong clinical skills.
          • Call off policy: Hospital may cancel up to 48 hour per 13 week contract and 36 hours for shorter contracts. For each unscheduled absence by a nurse, the hospital may cancel an additional 12 hours per 13 week assignment.
          • Perm address must not be within 50 mi - the hospital can request proof and within 2 days we must provide a copy of the DL and copies of 2 utility bills or a telephone bill.
          • There will be an online orientation competency that must be completed before a traveler or registry placement can begin their assignment at any of the three Bakersfield Dignity campuses.
